Shaykh Umer Khan is a distinguished Islamic scholar and educator whose expertise bridges both traditional Islamic sciences and modern finance. He graduated as an ʻĀlim (Islamic scholar) from Al-Salam Institute, authorized by Dar al-ʻUlūm Nadwat al-ʻUlamā', Lucknow, India—one of the world’s most renowned centers of Islamic scholarship. He further completed the rigorous Dars-e-Niẓāmī curriculum, including the advanced dawrah of the six canonical collections of ḥadīth.

Following his formal Islamic studies, Shaykh Umer pursued specialization in Islamic jurisprudence and legal verdicts (iftāʼ) at Darulifta Birmingham, where he earned the esteemed title of Mufti. He received authorization (ijazah) in issuing fatwās from Shaykh Mohammad Akram Nadwi, a leading contemporary scholar of Hadith and Islamic law.

In addition to his classical training, Shaykh Umer holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Islamic Finance, alongside multiple professional certifications in the field. His unique combination of traditional scholarship and financial expertise enables him to provide insightful guidance on complex ethical and economic issues in contemporary Islamic finance.

Currently, Shaykh Umer teaches Islamic sciences at both the Institute of Knowledge and Al-Salam Institute, where he is known for his depth of knowledge and clarity of instruction. He also researches and issues legal verdicts for several Islamic institutions and serves as a Sharīʻah advisor to various organizations. Additionally, he is an executive member of the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA), contributing to scholarly discussions on Islamic jurisprudence and its modern applications.
