Amjad Bangash, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Fiqh and Islamic Finance

Dr. Amjad Bangash is a distinguished Islamic finance professional and scholar who currently serves as the Head of the Shariah Advisory Department at an Islamic bank in the GCC. With over eighteen years of experience in the field, he has developed deep expertise in Fiqh al-Mu‘āmalāt (Islamic Commercial Jurisprudence). His professional work spans Shariah advisory, Islamic product structuring, Shariah governance, and the design of Islamic financial transactions. Throughout his career, Dr. Bangash has provided Shariah advisory services to a wide range of institutions across the GCC, Europe, and the United States, earning a strong reputation for his practical insight and scholarly depth in Islamic finance.

Dr. Bangash holds a Ph.D. in Management, with a dissertation titled “Managing the Agricultural Sector Through Muzara’ah: Implementing an Islamic Economic Participatory Mode of Financing.” His research focuses on applying Islamic economic principles to modern financial systems, particularly in the agricultural sector. He also holds a Master’s degree in Islamic Banking and Finance from the International Institute of Islamic Economics at the International Islamic University in Islamabad, Pakistan. In addition to his academic qualifications, Dr. Bangash has completed several distinguished professional certifications, including the Certified Shariah Advisor & Auditor (CSAA) from AAOIFI in Bahrain, the Qualified Islamic Banker credential from CISI in the United Kingdom, and a Certificate in Islamic Banking from CIBAFI in Bahrain. He has also earned certificates in Law of Contracts and Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies from Harvard Business School in the United States.

An active researcher and writer, Dr. Bangash has published widely on topics related to Islamic finance, Shariah governance, and ethical banking practices. His publications include “Islamic Modes of Financing (Muzara‘ah – Sharecropping)” in the Journal of Islamic Business & Management (USA, 2020), “Shariah Analysis of Cryptocurrencies” in ISFIRE Magazine (UK, 2017), “Practical Application of Salam Mode in Agriculture” in Business Islamica (Dubai, 2012), “Islamic Risk Management” in Business Today (Oman, 2013), and “Current Takaful Practices & Islamic Guidelines” in IFN Journal (2018). Through his teaching, writing, and advisory work, Dr. Bangash continues to bridge the gap between classical Islamic jurisprudence and contemporary financial systems, promoting ethical, equitable, and Shariah-compliant economic development around the world.
