Alexandra V. Maragha, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies

Dr. Alexandra V. Maragha is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Islamic Studies at the International Islamic University of Minnesota (IIUMN). She teaches Ph.D.-level courses, including ISEC701: Studies in the Foundations of Hadith, and serves as a member of the Ph.D. Committee, where she contributes to the academic advancement of postgraduate research in Islamic Studies.

Dr. Maragha earned her Ph.D. in Islamic Sciences with a dissertation titled “The Development of an Instructional Model (Al-Huda) Based on the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).” Her groundbreaking research explored the communicative methods of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a foundation for instructional design. Integrating principles from Islamic sciences, communication, and education, she conducted a comprehensive quantitative analysis of the entire Sahih Al-Bukhari collection—categorizing all 7,563 ahadeeth into verbal and nonverbal communicative elements—to advance applications of prophetic communication in both Islamic and secular educational contexts.

Beyond her teaching and committee roles, Dr. Maragha is an active scholar and researcher. Her work has been published and cited in international peer-reviewed journals, and she has presented original research at academic conferences worldwide. She also serves as a reviewer for leading scholarly journals, including Trends in Neuroscience and Education, where she supports innovative and interdisciplinary research. Dr. Maragha’s ongoing scholarship focuses on the intersection of Islamic sciences, communication, and educational methodologies.
