Dr. Alexandra V. Maragha is an Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies at the International Islamic University of Minnesota, where she develops curriculum and courses and teaches doctoral-level and undergraduate courses, supervises doctoral dissertation research, and serves on the Ph.D. Dissertation Committee. She holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Sciences, a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction, and a B.A. in Communication, Media, and Theatre, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Her doctoral dissertation, titled The Development of an Instructional (Al Huda) Model Based on the Communication of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), employed quantitative ḥadīth analysis to examine all 7,563 narrations contained in the complete collection of Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī. The study classified the Prophet’s verbal and nonverbal communication into 23 subcategories and developed a structured framework for examining Prophetic communication and its potential applications in education, communication, leadership, interpersonal engagement, and instructional practice. The model foregrounds the role of the instructor and emphasizes perception, character, and credibility as central dimensions of effective communication and moral-instructional
influence.
Dr. Maragha’s current research interests within Islamic sciences include Islamic epistemology, ḥadīth studies, Prophetic communication, contemporary issues in Islamic creed, instructional communication, Islamic pedagogy and education, digital information, and artificial intelligence. Her work further explores the relationship between transmitted knowledge, scholarly authority, moral credibility, and procedural methods of verification within the Islamic intellectual tradition.

Her interdisciplinary scholarship also engages cross-domain studies comparing Islamic and Western epistemologies and critically examines the assumptions through which Islamic concepts are interpreted within secular theoretical frameworks. This research extends to questions of authority, secularism, modernity, geopolitics in the Islamic world, nation-state politics, educational authority, communication, and contemporary theological and technological challenges. Across these areas, her scholarship seeks to bring classical Islamic sources into sustained dialogue with contemporary academic debates while
maintaining methodological rigor and fidelity to the Islamic intellectual tradition.

Dr. Maragha also serves in academic editorial and peer-review roles, including Associate Editor for Cogent Education, Editor for the Journal of Islamic Studies and Culture, and reviewer for Trends in Neuroscience and Education. She has previously and continues to present her research at international academic conferences and events and publish in international peer-reviewed journals and outlets.
